The sofa and chair “Hal” with the specially designed fabric “Odal” is a brave and visionary collaboration in the Norwegian furniture industry. A successful three-way collaboration between an established furniture manufacturer, a producer of furniture fabrics with solid traditions and a group of young furniture designers, have resulted in a fresh and innovative product. Their shared competence have lifted the totality and given the furniture a clear, visual and textile identity. Hal represents a considerable renewal of the furniture manufacturer L.K. Hjelle’s profile. The furniture’s monumental, cool and simplistic qualities are based on a clear and pure form. The use of contrasting colours gives the fabric a sense of three dimensions with full effect from the pattern. The fabric has a clear tactile quality through the combination of a rough surface with the sober graphic expression of the pattern.
