Nova Sea is one of the oldest, largest and most traditional fish-farmers in Northern Norway. In recent years, a number of companies have been merged with Nova Sea, which has therefore developed a new visual identity.
The intention was to produce an identity that could create a sense of community and internal pride, have a positive effect on the recruitment of new labour and present Nova Sea as a professional market player, both locally and in a tough, international industry.
The jury's verdict:
Nova Sea has chosen an exciting design, in an industry that often markets itself more neutrally using fish and the sea. The new identity takes as its basis the mountain formations on the islands where the various fish farms are located. In this way, one can link the island communities together to form one whole in Nova Sea, while at the same time creating a sense of intense, personal involvement – every employee recognises his/her “island” and “mountain”.
The shape of the logo is inspired by the graphical forms in the illustrations, which gives good balance and a good sense of wholeness. The colours chosen are both tough and honest, with primary focus on the red-orange sun bobbing in the water. Using simple symbolism, Nova Sea manages to communicate a credible story, at the same time as they create an internal sense of team spirit and external attention. The expression is genuine, authentic, characteristic and consistent in a convincing and professional manner.
