A city-wide showcase of design stories from around the world.
The design scene on this side of Scandinavia has snowballed. Refreshingly evolved far beyond the cultural clichés that have sometimes blighted the North in the past, Norway’s design output today is internationally relevant, planet-aware and innovation-driven.
That’s not to say that it doesn’t also retain a strong sense of provenance and traditional craftsmanship in the process. On the contrary, it is these qualities that set apart Norwegian design from the rest of the world. Sensitivity to the environment is also key – something that, in a country with one of the most stunning natural landscapes on the planet – has long been appreciated as a given. The pieces shown at Casa Norway present different aspects of issues related to craftsmanship, innovation in combination with environmental consciousness.
