Thon Hotels Internet

54% increase in online sales

Challenge – Old fashioned solution
In a period characterised by negative trends in the hotel sector, an upgrade of Thon Hotels’ Internet solution was decided upon. The existing solution was giving satisfactory results but it was time for modernisation. There were problems with uptime and stability, and the solution was not very action oriented. The goal with the new web solution for Thon Hotels was to design a booking solution that could set the standard for the industry as a whole.

Solution – Visible and available
Understanding the user is a prerequisite for efficient Internet solutions that create value for the company. An analysis defined the content and functions of the new website and created the basis for the development of the concept. In the general design phase, the key pages and principles for content and navigation were defined. In the detailed design phase, the graphic design was coordinated with content structure. The design was done as a prototype to start with and was tested and adjusted along the way until a booking programme was finally developed.

Result – More bookings and better known
The thonhotels.no page has become optimally available to users and search engines. The figures clearly indicate that the functionality is good. Sales turnover online has increased by 54% and reservations by 35%. The proportion of total bookings online increased by a solid 70%. A competitor survey conducted in 2009 on search engine advertising in the industry revealed increased brand awareness of Thon Hotels. This project clearly shows how solid the return on good interactive design can be.
