Opening Ceremony in Oslo City Hall

The participants are invited by the Mayor of Oslo to the official opening of the three-day event with a ceremony in the Oslo City Hall.

Borders of your Senses - Aker River Light Festival

After the ceremony, the participants will be transported by bus to the Aker River where they will wander along the river and experience the spectacular annual Aker River LightFestival.

Design Exhibitions

The participants start the day with breakfast and viewing exhibitions at the Norwegian Centre for Design and Architecture. Two exhibitions are on show:

1. ‘Borders of your Senses' Design Exhibiton
2. The 2005 prize winners of Norsk Forms designer competitions- and awards

Seminars 'Design without Borders'
After the exhibitions the participants stroll up along the Aker River to the seminar venues of AHO and KHIO where they will participate in the seminars Borders of your Profession and Borders of your World. Participants at the seminar Design for All will stay at the Norwegian Centre for Design- and Architecture.

Three seminars will run parallel and focus on the themes:

'Borders of your Profession' -
Design across professional borders

‘Borders of your World' -
Design across global borders

‘Design for All' -
Design across borders of age and abilities

The seminars aim to challenge the delegates on social responsibility and the possibilities designers and manufactures have to contribute with solutions to problems of social concern. The sessions will take place in the facilities of Oslo National Academy of the Arts (AHO) and The Oslo School of Architecture and Design (KHIO)

Social get-together

Friday evening the delegates are invited to an informal party at the Norwegian Centre for Design and Architecture. An important part of participating in such a seminar is to meet new and old friends. Enjoy!

Oslo Open House 2005

Learning about design and architecture is not only done through interesting seminars, but also through seeing and experiencing. We therefore invite the participants to Oslo Open House. For one day private houses and public institutions of interesting architecture and design welcome people to come and view their buildings. Participants of Era 05 are can choose from four different guided tours created especially for them. The four tours have the themes:

1. Norwegian Functionalism
2. Re-designed buildings and new architecture
3. Historic Builings in Oslo
4. Tutti-frutti

Each tour consists of four buildings in the Oslo region. The delegates are transported by bus to the different sites. The guides have expertise within design and architecture.

Travel to Copenhagen

The Era 05 participants are encouraged to travel to Copenhagen by ferry. The ship, Pearl of Scandinavia, leaves Oslo harbour at 5 pm, and the guests can enjoy the panoramic view of the Oslo Fjord when the ship sets sail to Copenhagen. Era 05 participants are invited to an Era 05 dinner on board the ship as well as entertainment in the ship's conference center.

Arrival in Copenhagen

The participants will arrive in Copenhagen Sunday September 25, 2005 at 9 am and can enjoy a day of sightseeing in Copenhagen before the Era 05 – Joint Congress commences on Monday September 26.
