DRIED, salted cod (klippfisk), stockfish and lutefisk have a fundamental place in Norway's culinary traditions. Halvors Tradisjonsfisk sells products which are ready to be cooked, making it easier to create traditional dishes in a modern kitchen too.
The packaging boxes are white, with black and white print. They also have sloping sides. The back of the box contains detailed information about how the products need to be prepared.
Jury`s verdict
The Halvors packaging comes across as extremely credible and unpretentious. You can almost smell the clipfish just by looking at the box. It is the clear-cut black and white design and the simple box with the sloping side panels (compared to the competitors' highly colourful plastic packaging) which stops you in your tracks at the freezer cabinet.
The products suit the simple, plain design very well as they are basic raw materials. The good pictures of a rough environment evoke associations with local food and traditions. The side panels provide additional communication space and a distinctive look. The box fits in well with the company's other types of packaging and visual identity. The products are unique in Norway and the packaging provides a good way of telling the story of a home-made quality product created by a small company. We believe in it.
