Every year many accidents occur in the building and construction industry, and the most serious injuries sustained are head injuries.

The ProActive protective helmet has been designed to give the user improved safety while also make more people want to use a helmet in the workplace. During development of the helmet focus was given to design and practical solutions. Studies have been made to ensure that the product communicates an identity with which potential users wish to be associated.

The jury's verdict:

ProActive is a protective helmet made from exciting materials, with many smart, integrated functions. A radio, intercom or gas sensor can be mounted. Electronic textiles ensure easy charging of batteries overnight on a “charging peg”. Sound is transferred via ear defenders that filter out harmful frequencies while allowing conversations and warning signals to pass through. The combination of Bluetooth technology and e-textiles allow one to answer mobile phone calls without removing gloves, ear defenders or the helmet. Ventilation channels ensure good ventilation and a pleasant temperature.

A matt, white colour makes the product easy on the eye while black strips define the product design. The sides have transparent sections displaying the shock-absorbing material, so that the user understands how much protection the helmet offers. ProActive is a tough protective helmet with many functional and attractive elements. Inspiration has clearly been found in the cap – a popular piece of headgear for this target group. Safety aspects have included and the design is innovative.
