"Tangen" has been the classic glass "par excellence" on Norwegian dining tables since its introduction in 1958. Willy Johansson's design was inspired by the historic tradition of drinking goblets: straight lines, knob on stem, and sturdy foot are all continuations of forms found in several glasses from the peak period in Norwegian glass production at Nøstetangen in the 1740's. "Tangen" is a series of 11 different glasses by Hadeland Glassverk, which still produces 40.000 of these glasses per year.
