This is a classical product that has survived for almost 70 years. It is so well established in the market, that its shape has come to define the very idea of how a fire hydrant should look. The classical shape has become a symbol of quality, and although the fire hydrant has undergone various technical adjustments and changes to the logo over the course of the years, its basic shape has remained unchanged. It is solid and sturdy in appearance - suitable for outdoor use in streets and roads. The security aspect is particularly well thought out. When it was originally designed in Kongsberg in 1937, one of the main requirements was that it could be connected to the existing water supply system. The designer also had other important aspects to consider: it had to be easy to find, even in deep snow, it had to be easy to connect and it had to tolerate low temperatures without freezing.
