Denmark and G ermany were the markets that Skeie identified for the Wave, its new fixed seat solution for lecture theatres. The complexity of the task lay in developing a complete system and not just a nice chair.
Skeie chose to prioritise a strong design impression and the market’s response has been very good, both to the functionality and the aesthetics.
Jury`s verdict
The jury sees a well-designed product that uses the crossbar as starting point for the design expression. It is strong and visible and is the carrying element in many ways – not least as the load-bearing crossbar. Wave represents an obvious improvement in this market sector and has integrated function and design in a superb way.
The chair solution is specially designed for amphitheatres and works perfectly in lecture situations. The back has good ergonomic qualities and the chair combines several functions without losing simplicity. The holistic concept of Wave is its strength in a very challenging category and the solution is elegant in spite of heavy demands in terms of functionality and price.
