The Popcorn chair was designed by Sven Ivar Dysthe especially for the Henie Onstad Art Centre in 1968, and has been a popular collector's item ever since. It is now relaunched by Fora Form and will be shown in London together with one of Sven Ivar Dysthe's other classics, 'Laminette'. Photo: John Hughes.
Norway is investing heavily in design when more than 30 designers and manufacturers move into a new arena for the annual 100% Norway exhibition in London.
For the ninth time Norwegian designers and manufacturers travel to London to showcase their products at the 100% Norway exhibition, which takes place during the prestigious London Design Festival in September.
Curators Benedicte Sunde from the Norwegian Design Council and Henrietta Thompson from Wallpaper* have made the selection after a careful assessment of a record number of applications for this year's exhibition.
100% Norway 2012 will be held at Tent London, the most innovative arena during the London Design Festival. The exhibition will fill Dray Walk Gallery in Brick Lane and features both prototypes from young designers and relaunched Norwegian design classics.
The exhibition space will be designed by Oscar Narud and Amy Hunting, inspired by traditional Norwegian building techniques with a strong emphasis on graphics which provides a contemporary twist. Read more about the exhibtion in the Norwegian Embassy's press release.
100% Norway is a collaboration between the Norwegian Design Council, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Norwegian Embassy in London. The aim of the exhibition is to open doors for Norwegian designers and manufacturers to the UK market, and create international awareness of Norwegian design.
