The seminar
In the seminar covering Design for All you will be presented to the far reaching implications of the shift in age profile in populations across Europe and the developed world.
The design effects of this change makes it necessary to focus on universal design in future development of products, services and environments for the greater benefit of all.
You will be introduced to facts and principles of universal design and how successful international companies focus on Design for All as a strategic business tool.
The delegates will learn about Design for All during the seminar and a mini-exhibition of products with universal qualities on Friday September 23, 2005.
Seminar venue: The Norwegian Centre for Design and Architecture (DogA), Hausmanns gate 16 (behind the Jakob church).

By coincidence this was a common starting point for two recent projects undertaken by Pearson Matthews; a London-based product design consultancy who specialise in the healthcare sector. The two projects were significantly different: one a technology-based device for measuring blood glucose, the other the humble sticking plaster. Jim Dawton will use these two case-studies to demonstrate how the needs of the user are balanced with the technical and commercial realities throughout the product development process - highlighting both successes and failures!
