The user interface at Bussmetro’s stops in Kristiansand is well designed and thoroughly thought through. Users participated in the design process, and information at stops is clear and functions well for everyone. The curbs are the same height as the bus floor; a raised triangle painted with a light contrast colour marks the boarding point; information is aimed at several senses; and there is a remote-control sound system that allows people with visual impairments to have information read aloud at stops. A GPS system monitors the position of the buses and sends a signal to the stop, meaning that travellers can read and hear how long it is until their bus will arrive at the stop. Bus drivers have received special training to ensure that all users have a good experience.
