The ACT fire extinguisher includes the integration of a number of new solutions, such as sound and light alarms in case of fire. New technology has been employed and existing technology has been used in new ways.

The extinguisher reacts with light and sound when the fire alarm is activated, is intuitive to use and is pulled from the wall for use. The user is warned by SMS when the extinguisher needs replacing.

Jury`s verdict

Here we see the modernisation of an important safety product that concerns us all. The jury finds that all the Design for All criteria are well met. The device is user-friendly and the sound and light warning function in the event of fire provides additional quality for all users.

The aesthetics are designed to appeal to all and no-one will be in any doubt about how the extinguisher works. The ability to use it with one hand represents a major advance and the SMS replacement warning is a good example of how a new technology increases user-friendliness.
