Learn more about Design Pilot, a programme that provides financial support for Norwegian enterprises wishing to implement pilot projects based on design-driven innovation. Understand more about design-driven innovation through a case presentation by the design agency Designit.
The purpose of Design Pilot is to initiate projects that strengthen the ability of businesses and public institutions to provide innovative solutions by using design-driven innovation methods. The project is a collaborative project between the Norwegian Design Council, Innovation Norway and the Research Council of Norway.
Design Pilot will be introduced by Skule Storheill, Director R&D and Innovation Programmes, Norwegian Design Council.
Tine Park, Strategic Design Consultant in Designit, Denmark and Kaja Misvær, Partner and Innovation Director in Designit, Oslo will present a practical case on Design-driven Innovation – user insight as a driving force for value creation.
The background for this design-driven innovation project was the need for better and more efficient handling of patients at the Odense University Hospital. A user driven approach and integration of patient-hotel thinking, has resulted in a new concept for one department with solutions and services setting a new standard for ‘future hospitals’. The process focused on the holistic user experience from the patient’s, next of kin’s and the staff’s perspective. A high degree of user involvement throughout the process has given the design team consisting of anthropologists, user experts, industrial designers and communication designers a unique insight on what is needed to create a healing atmosphere for patients, an inclusive environment for next of kin’s and an attractive workplace for the staff.
Tine Park and Kaja Misvær will reveal how Designit approached this project and the results accomplished through a design-driven and user focused innovation process.
