LiTraCon is a concrete block with embedded optical fibres. Thousands of fibres, orientated according to thickness, let light pass through the concrete. Viewed from the front, the concrete becomes transparent but when viewed diagonally it is complete opaque. It is material that diffuses light whilst retaining all the mechanical properties of concrete. Have a look at the 'Good Finish' Exhibition.
Norwegian Design Council in cooperation with Nordic Innovatheque will open the 'Good Finish' Exhibition during the Nordic Material Playground on January 18th 2007. The exhibition will be shown at DogA Norwegian Centre for Design and Architecture until 7th February 2007. The materials surrounding us are developing fast – from asphalt that eat pollution, windows that clean themselves to plastic that remembers its own shape. The exhibition will give en overview of new and innovative materials and technologies available in todays market and which may give new qualities in the development of new products. The exhibition has just been shown at VIA in Paris.
The finishing touch is often the last step of any design project but it’s a fundamental step. It gives uniqueness, singularity and quality to a product. The development of new printing technologies creates new possibilities for making more informative or decorative finishes. Special coating and new forming techniques offer delicacy or new textures. The sensory qualities of the objects surrounding us are improved.
We invite you to dive into the subject through the exhibition “Good Finish” , just shown at VIA in Paris. Structured around three axes - Impression, Texture and Technique – this exhibition offers an overview of the latest decorative and finishing technologies. With more than 70 materials and techniques on display, we bring our products’ surfaces into the spotlight.
“Good Finsih” is also a book which sum up all the informations related to the materials and techniques selected for this exhibition.
Both in English and French, this book is a perfect tool for any project. This book will be available at DogA Norwegian Centre for Design and Architecture for €45 during the exhibition.
