System for carrying and handling mail from Norway Post received Award for Design Excellence 2007.
At the Design Breakfast on 21st September 2007, a lecture on how design helps to improve efficiency was held by Cathrine Laksfoss, Financial Director of Posten Norge AS (The Norwegian Post Office) and Morten W. Riser, Product Developer at Inventas AS. Around 120 delegates from business, industry and the design sector came to learn about Posten's postal load-carrying project.
Posten's business vision is to be the world's most go-ahead concern in terms of logistics means that they must be best. The management of Posten's Distribution Network therefore initiated a project that involved Posten's entire value chain.
The Norwegian design agency Inventas was commissioned to analyse the needs of the concern and develop new solutions, an assignment that was dependent on excellent design methods. The result was a new load-carrying system for transporting letters and package post. The system has aroused a great deal of interest due to the logistical advantages and considerably higher efficiency levels achieved throughout the entire value chain. The new load-carrying system also provides Posten's 14,000 employees with improved ergonomic working conditions.
Those attending the breakfast heard why the project was initiated, how it was carried out and what results were achieved. Posten Norge AS and Inventas AS received a joint "Award for Design Excellence" for this project.
